      Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ALCF) is characterized by three major features:
      • 1)
        Acute decompensation (AD: ascites, gastrointestinal bleeding and/or encephalopathy)
      • 2)
        One or more organ failures (OFs)
      • 3)
        Poor short-term prognosis [
